Posted by Ministry Supporter on 8/24/2005, 3:23 pm The Birth of A Mime Ministry The brothers Kevin and Kenneth Welcome have been ministering mime for approximately 5 years total. Their ministry of mime was birthed out of a divorce and a turn of events that took place in their lives, it was then they ran to silent art of expression to worship the Lord, which then transformed into what they call their ministry of mime today, Nu Expression. They have been used by the Lord to minister to a broad range of audiences through the ministry of mime to reach out to the hearts of believers and non-believers together. In 2000, a mime ministry by the name of Vision was formed by a young man name James Spalding, (our cousin) and his aunt, Sis. Lawson. She happen to see mime before and thought it would be a creative way to dance to a song. Being young in Christ at the time, we had no idea what the mime ministry was, and decided to join the group. "More Than I Can Bear" by God's Property/Kirk Franklin was the first song they chose to perform (minister) mime too; during many rehearsals the Lord showed me (Kevin) in a vision (in my mind) dramatic movements to the song chosen to perform. (minister) When I spoke up about the ideas no one in the group cared to listen, so I went along with what was being taught by the others and so forth. Later that month, the Talent Show came up and we came in first place. We were then asked to perform (minister) again in front of the church. Months later the original members of Vision decided that this was only for entertainment and that this was not something that they decided to make a full time ministry. Sometime later in the year, my brother and I sought the Lord on how to work with this type of ministry as far as promotiong, travel, etc. A young lady by the name of P. Alexander joined our ministry and we did 3 songs together. Due to situations that occured, she was unable to continue ministry with us. About 2001, we began to minister under the name 'Prophetic Word' and went to churches who extended an invitation to our ministry of mime; so as God saw fit, every door was another open door. During that time period we weren't at the level of professionalism that we have obtained now. We minister in wrinkle white shirts and black slacks, but that just to show that the anointing is the anointing, and despite our attire we remained faithful and continued to minister mime everywhere. Within in that year, my brother took a hiatus from the ministry (can't remember why) and I began to minister with two females by the name of D. Evans and K. Brown. The name of our ministry changed and 'Anointed Vessel Mime' was created. We spent about a year together and due to a turn of events, they were unable to minister as well. Before the year was up, it was prophesied to us that we would have the ministry garments we desired if we remained faithful in this ministry (as you can see the purple robes/we have black ones as well) After their depature from the ministry, my brother returned and we began to minister mime again. Once evening we stumbled across the name of our ministry and the question arose, 'why are we still going under the name of Anointed Vessel Mime?' This was a point made by my brother and I can clearly see why. Those within our church had knew myself by that name associated with the two young women who minister mime with me. So we took sometime apart and asked God for a name He'd find suitable for our ministry to carry out the gospel. Then it came, "Nu Expression" this derives from the scripture, 2 Corinthians 5:17 - Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. When we minister as "Nu Expression" old things are passed away, putting on the white make-up makes us a new creature when ministering, erasing our identity and giving God's. But our ministry abides by the scripture, II Corinthians 5:7, For we walk by faith, not by sight. It is because of faith [our belief in God] that we know He will carry this ministry and allow us to carry out His plans for our lives. He has given us a fresh anointing to minister the gospel thru mime and we are excited about what the Lord has in store for us. We are currently preparing to go to Raleigh, North Carolina, and plans for Anchorage, Alaska. Nu Expression Mime Ministries
