It's still listed as ID by the SOS because in San Bernardino county, photo ID cards are used. Inmates have them clipped to their jumpsuits at all times...it is a requirement of the facility. I notarize at West Valley Detention Center, Rancho Cucamonga and Glen Helen Rehabilitation Center in Devore (San Bernardino). The cards have the inmate's photo, booking number (i.e. serial number) and complete description and are issued by the CA Dept. of Corrections.

: Absolutly not!!!!!!

: Here in wonderful CA... you can be
: anyone you want to be in Jail. The
: name provided at booking will be the
: name you are addressed by until the
: end of your incarceration, however
: long that might be. If they discover
: your using an alias , that will be
: added to your "file"... but
: your stuck with the booking name until
: released.
:
: Per officers I have spoken to at
: several incarseration locations
: throughout LA county.... CA did away
: with Inmate photo ID's 20+ years ago
: for budget reasons. Why it's still a
: listed ID by the Sec of state....
: because it takes at least that long
: for Bureaucracies in Ca to communicate
: with each other if ever.

: Has anyone had experience with
: notaizating a document for a inmate
: without a ID card. The LA County jail
: that I would be going to only has
: booking #'s, no pic, no sig on card.
: Someone told me, she feels the jail
: officials have the right person in
: custody, so the booking # should be
: enough to do the notarization.
: Anyone's thoughts??? Sounds valid,
: but is it?
