Was this for a modification application or the actual modification of terms and conditions? Did you collect post dated checks? If it is for an application where monies were provided up-front, then it may be a scam. If it was an actual modification (not the application), then it may be on the up and up. In either case, it is not your position as a signing agent, to interfere with the transaction. However, as many signing agents now do, if it is a request for getting an application signed, no notarization of anything and collecting up front fees, you can turn down the assignment.
