If you are an Alabama Notary Public, check your mailbox for a letter from the Secretary of State office. I received an invitation last Friday informing me of a Notary Conference being held on Thursday, October 1, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. in Montgomery, AL.
The goal of the Conference, from what I can tell, is to inform us notaries about state laws and standards. This is big news for us Alabamians. It's the first time the Secretary of State office has held a meeting like this. It appears we will finally get some answers. If you didn't receive a letter, call the Secretary of State office. Maybe they have an old address for you.
Two things: 1) RSVP right away because the letter says seating is limited; and 2) if you reside in Northern Alabama let me know if you want to ride on the charter bus that will leave Huntsville, AL early Thursday morning. You can reach me at 256-503-6595; or HuntsvilleMobileNotary@gmail.com. The bus ride is not sponsored by the SOS. A group of us notaries would rather ride than drive.
