After browsing some notary-related and other web pages, some words useful in notary-related discussions stuck in my mind, and one word to avoid:
Signatory - one who signs a document
Oral - spoken
Verbal - avoid this one. It means expressed in words. The words might be spoken, might be written. This is often missused to mean oral.
