Do you also replace the drum wiper blade with every cartridge replacement? I know some people don't know what, or where, that part that comes in the box goes. Some aftermarket cheep "refill" locations don't provide these either, but there very important.
If you do.... check yours. see if the side that your having issues with is excessively dirty.
When was the last time you had the inside cleaned? Laser printers do need this from time to time. If your at 4 yrs, and have never done it, your probably past due. Though I don't have many issues with this on my 4100 series, our older HP III & III D's NEED periodic cleaning, the less expensive and the older the machine (even HP's) the more they need this servicing.
Also SOME HP's (and many others, especially Lexmarks), have an overflow toner bottle, if you have one of those and have not emptied it, this could also cause your issue.
