Oh I forgot about the mileage - there was some sort of mileage reimbursement but I can't remember how much. $0.55 sounds about right. Hmm, I wonder why the discrepancy in hourly wage? I was surprised they were paying $16.

: Yes, I heard from the Census Bureau
: about two weeks ago offering a 40 hour
: work week as an enumerator (temporary
: 10-week position from April - June) at
: something like $16 per hour. It’s
: expected that you can work nights and
: weekends.
:
: I told them that I could have
: committed to those hours when I
: applied for the job back in November,
: but since then I've had to make other
: arrangements and have gone back to
: school two days a week (I have a
: 4-hour class on Saturdays with a
: one-hour drive each way, so that alone
: is a 6-hour block of weekend time that
: I'm unavailable) and also due to the
: low interest rates, the loan signing
: biz is having a temporary surge.
:
: They called again last week offering
: me the same position. I told them the
: same thing - I cannot commit to 40
: hours now that it's four months later
: and I have made other arrangements.
: They said they would call me back with
: an offer of a part-time position, but
: I haven't heard from them yet.
