I'm "using" Outlook Express 6 (mostly I use Outlook, but use Outlook Express for special purposes once in a while). Under Tools from the menu bar, choose Options. On the window that appears, pick the Read tab. Click the "Read all messages in plain text" option. This will prevent messages from having control over how they look. It will also make it difficult to read HTML messages. That's the available tradeoff. If you don't like the result, just go back and uncheck the option.
