FNF Completes Acquisition of LandAmerica's Underwriting Assets
Fidelity National Financial announced the closing of the acquisition of LandAmerica Financial Group's two principal title insurance underwriters, Commonwealth Land Title and Lawyers Title, as well as United Capital Title. The combined companies will create the nation's largest title insurance giant, which will control approximately 46 percent of the total title insurance market share. The completed acquisition is valued at $235 million, down from Fidelity's original offer of $298 million. William Foley, II, the chairman of FNF, called the acquisition of the title insurance franchises "an historic opportunity" for his company and its shareholders.
