Wherein lies the problem..... every state is allowed their own laws, Sac. requires the doc.'s recorded here to meet CA law, no matter the originating state. For a while I was doing a lot of deals for a directly for a Texas Builder. They had some specific needs required by Texas, that as drawn did not meet CA's laws. Because I worked with the Builders legal dept, (rather than sending them to pound sand) they drafted a document that meet both of our needs. They were a very profitable relationship that would not have existed without our working together.
If the doc's mentioned above were for another state (ie not CA), then I would agree, in principle. Even though you might be technically correct that in WA you don't need to follow CA law, unfortunately if the doc's are to be filed in CA they will. Either way refusal would only cause loss of business... while no laws are being broken by complying with the request.
