This is not true - docs are drawn the way borrowers hold title and, IMO, makes this following statement "I had them re draw docs so that is eliminated the name that was not on the ID. " incorrect too - you do not dictate how docs are drawn - that's up to title and lender - unless you've done a title search and determined how title is held you have no authority to say how docs should be drawn. You can't just randomly eliminate names from title.
IMO, you could have requested they be allowed to sign using a/k/a and your certificate would reflect the name on the ID. Absent that authorization, refuse the job. You're correct in that the Signature/Name Affidavit is not acceptable ID for a notary and I've lost track of how many times I've debated this with title companies.
