This is a great coverage of status of Montecito fire, I don't think they are accurate about the number of homes that burned to the ground in the night. But no casualties so far, only 4 hospitalized due to burns.
My dear friend,Chris Walden, also a CA Notary Public, whom I also worked with at QAD until 1999, watched her home burn, and she is safe staying with friends in their motor home. I was so worried about Chris when she didn't return my call last night, and then this morning when I called, the recording said the number was no longer valid, I knew she'd lost her home to fire. But she's upbeat, making plans, and will return to her property as soon as the Fire Department will allow her to sift threw the rubble and ashes. I emailed Chris last night, and she called me this morning. She is doing fine, busy with plans. Chris has lived on Mountain Drive for over 40 years, she raised her children there, Meghan and Jeremy were born in their home.
Please say a few prayers for our Montecito neighbors who are displaced from their beautiful homes.

: We are fine....many of my friends live
: in this part of town. Last night at
: 6p I was at an Indian restaurant
: watching the fire with one of my
: fellow signing agents, Marlene
: Maxwell, and I said, I think you can't
: go home because this fire is out of
: control and people will not be allowed
: to go in and pack things they want to
: keep. She went to stay with another
: friend in town, I came home to Nipomo.
: I'm off to the high school to check
: on some of my friends I cannot reach
: by phone or email to make sure they
: have everything they need, or if they
: want to come up to my place and hang
: out, away from the smoke and anxiety.
:
: Pray for all the Santa Barbarans who
: lost their homes and valuables in the
: night, and it is far from over....100
: homes so far at 6am today, in only 12
: hours. Fire danger is so emminent
: with all these Santa Ana Winds which
: have not let up at all. PRAY FOR RAIN
: AND FOR THESE FOLKS!
