I went in to Manhattan today from NJ to see Eye In The Sky and found it to be excellent. I fully endorse Gavin Hood's praise of all the actors in second tier roles who created full-bodied characters out of the economical screenplay. Jeremy was terrific - no surprise - as were Iain Glen, Richard McCabe and Monica Dolan. JN was appropriate haggard, wrestling with the awful decision. While it's very nice of The Movie Gourmet to want to pay tribute to Alan Rickman by saying it is his movie, I think credit must be shared all around. The director Gavin Hood plays the American commander of the base in Nevada with a perfect accent. The film was preceeded by an interesting array of previews at the Regal Union Square - at least two explosion films (1, a new Star Trek and the other a new Marvel superheroes film), a Middle East film, A Hologram for The King, starring Tom Hanks but most intriguing, Tom Hiddleston as the American Country-Western singer Hank Williams. Anyway, I'm thrilled to learn that TMWKI will be in the Tribeca Film Festival. If I get my taxes done on time, I might just venture out to see it.
