I dreamt I had tickets to a local theater performance. I didn't know the play but a friend told me it was great, so I decided to go. When I got to the theater, the marquee said "Jeremy Northam reads [name of the play which I don't remember]." I was excited about this happy surprise.
Then the play started and JN was sitting way at the back of a very deep stage--I could hardly see him or even tell it was him! And he wasn't onstage very long. It turned out he was only in the first and last sections of the play, reading an introductory and ending piece. The rest of the play was very avant-garde and completely incomprehensible. I couldn't tell what was going on at all. Then it was over. I was disappointed there was so little JN in it, of course.
I went to a reception being held after the performance, but didn't see Mr N there. I looked, believe me! I did speak to one of the play's producers, to ask her how she got JN to be in this small production. This is where it got really weird. The woman looked at me and said, "Who are you talking about?" When I repeated Jeremy's name she replied that she'd never heard of him. For some reason I didn't point out that his name was on the theater's marquee. The dream ended with me feeling very confused and a bit frustrated.
The amateur psychologist in me has decided that this means I'm suffering from a severe case of Northam Deprivation. What do you think?
