The actor Jeremy Northam has enjoyed considerable success on stage and screen. After several seasons at the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre he moved into film, scoring a hit as the resolute Mr Knightley who led Gwyneth Paltrow to the altar in the film Emma. He played Sir Robert Morton in The Winslow Boy (with Nigel Hawthorne), Sir Robert Chiltern in An Ideal Husband (with Julianne Moore and Cate Blanchett), Ivor Novello in Gosford Park (with a stellar ensemble cast) and again opposite Gwyneth Paltrow in the adaption of AS Byatt’s novel Possession. Recently he was Sir Thomas More in The Tudors on television. Jeremy’s big break came as Hamlet at the National Theatre, taking over from an ill Daniel Day-Lewis half an hour into a performance. His success was sealed with an Olivier Award as Best Newcomer for his performance in the National Theatre's production of The Voysey Inheritance.
