Posted by MaryMary The square or rectangular pans work best (ferrets don't like the 3-sided ones - they are usually too small for them to stretch out), plus it covers more room in the cage. Wood stove pellets are a great, inexpensive and safe litter ($4 for a 40lb bag), but the other pelleted litters are good, too (Yesterday's News, Feline Pine, Pine Fresh, etc.). Don't use shavings, they are bad (oils can cause harm), but the pellets don't contain any oil so they are okay. Good luck! Mary P.S. Treats when they use the box are always good - a few licks of ferretone go a long way

Ferrets are rarely 100% with the litter pan, as Amber stated you will need at least one in the cage and multiple pans in their play area. When they have to go, they have to go and it's the rare ferret that runs back to the cage to use that box ![]()
