Renaissance Fair- New York- Black leather shorts!

I was at the renaissance fair in New York on Labor Day. I saw this group of guys wearing some type of (really) short black leather (maybe not real leather) shorts; they were almost boxer-brief size. They were walking along with just those on. Anyone know what I'm looking for??? I can not find them anywhere... any help?>
