Posted by CMBigDog on 4/25/2003, 6:50 pm The NFL optimum weight for offensive tackles is 325-pounds. Guards are expected to clock in at 320-pounds, and centers should weigh around 310-pounds. That would put your optimum NFL offensive front line well north of the three-quarter ton mark at 1,600-pounds. Minimum weight for the same five guys would be 1,435-pounds. Of course, we expect our favorites to come in a bit over optimum, so if you factor in a thirty pound gain on each guy over the off-season, you could be looking at a line that weighs 1,750-pounds, or roughly 350-pounds per man. How's that for progress?
Judging by the latest Pro Football Draft Guide put out by Sporting News, the NFL expects their new recruits to come in looking well-fed, especially on the offensive line.
