i need some help trying to locate my birth grandparents

i kind of get the impression y=that this is for children looking for their birth mothers, but it's the only site i've been to so far that acutually made any sense to me. See, i'm a 16 year old girl whose father was adopted, the only problem is that my dad wants nothing to do with lookig up his birth parents. All he knows is that they're from Michigan, they're name is Finnigan, and that he might've possiably not been the only child to have been adopted out. I don't expect anyone will answer with the answer, but all i really want to know is how i can try to start searching for them. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Oh, and my dad's birthdate is 3/25/58.
