Low curling over hamilton Ontario at 4 AM with cold front ne/sw passed KDSV has winds confused even at this late (close to Sat) date. FLT PLAN shows winds now SE!!! as does ASOS!!! Resplendent garbage
applies as the sky is clear at DSV right now, and wx moving nw. Front in ALB this time tomorrow. does this mean good Wx Sunday?

: Will not eschew the counselor's graciousness
: in spite of the fact that
: "resplendent" is not an adjective
: normally applied to garbage.
:
: Sorry for this late response but my Window's
: 98 machine is dying a slow but welcome
: death, and I just intercepted Jim's request.
: Like a beloved old dog with terminal
: cancer, I'll probably end up mercifully
: shooting it in the head. In the
: meantime....
:
: .....with a non-functioning keyboard* but
: still-working mouse, fast internet
: connection, and multiple monitors, one can
: still pull up the all-important 500mb
: level-of-nondivergence progs, key to any
: meaningful attempt at forecasting. They
: reveal a rather unusual low, which is weak
: at that level (only one closed isobar), but
: strong below that. It's moving very slowly
: for it's 500 mb strength....just to our
: west, and moving only ~ 100 miles per day
: for the next two. They (the NGM and GFS)
: are in lockstep agreement for next 60 hours
: (a big +), and have most of western NY in a
: "vort-max gap" if you will....with
: rain in the far west (Erie) and east
: (Albany), and pretty much rain free in
: between. And not only rain free, but
: possibly mostly cloud free and, if one can
: believe the "clouds at all levels"
: product, even with some (or maybe a lot of)
: sunshine. And even if the "sun don't
: shine" on us, it will most definitely
: not be calm. The latest guidance has winds
: south ~ 10 at 8 AM, increasing to SW at 20
: in the afternoon...serious ridge lift, maybe
: even wave over 390.
:
: All of the above is predicated on predicting
: where the spokes of energy in a low like
: this will evolve, which is very tricky at
: best (note the reticence of the TV gang to
: pin down the rain timing). However, the
: improvements in the basic physics and data
: acquisition input to the models in the last
: six months or so give me real hope that
: tomorrow will be much more than "hour
: flights for students". So don't you
: glass people stay home ! Come down and see
: who can keep it up the longest...and the
: highest.
:
: Well what about Sunday? Will update
: tomorrow, in view if the skitterish nature
: of the "energy spokes", and also
: because I'm running out of time. On the
: way tonight to my 50th Anniversary HS
: graduation pre-bash (the main one is
: tomorrow night). I went to Catholic school,
: and you know what happens when human beings
: (including the Pope) try to thwart the power
: of Nature. Therefore am curious to see if
: any of those gals who, a half century ago,
: so proudly sported antlers, still do.

: It looks like a great week end to train!
: Doug Bradley and i will be ther to teach
: tomorrow, and Jay Wallach on Sunday!
: Pending Ray's resplendent forecast, usair
: net says its going to be cloudy, but
: ciellings will be from 3'000 to 7,000', and
: the win will be on the ridge all weekend,
: from 7 to 11 mph, from 190 to 200 degrees.
: Looks like hour flights will be possible for
: students!!!!!!!!!!!!!
: See you there.
