Just spent six hours of driving to get to the Dumfries Gliding Club only to get within a quarter of a mile of the airport when the skies opened up. I was hoping to get to talk to some Scottish Glider Pilots but that was not to be. To get to the Dumfries Club requires getting off the A711 and driving four miles on a one lane road with only sporadic places to pass if you meet another car. Then you have to turn on a forestry road to get to the airport. Kate reminded me that if we got stuck on the forestry road, there would be a good chance that we might be there all night because this was rally the "boonies". Well at least I got a glimpse of the Dumfries Club wind sock. This the second time that I have attempted to try to get a glider flight in Scotland. The Scottish scenery is spectacular and it would be wonderful to see it form the air in a glider. Oh well, maybe someday, when it's not raining
