On June 7 2012 there was a mid-air collision between a Pegasus and a Cirrus over a ridge at Air Sailing, NV. The soaring conditions were similar to those we experience when soaring the ridge at Dansville. I strongly recommend that you read the pilot reports and look at the pictures of the partially severed wing of the Pegasus. They emphasize the importance of always knowing the location of nearby aircraft when in flight. Another connection is that Geoff Cline is a member of the Bay Area Soaring Associates that owns the Pegasus involved in the accident.
For convenience I have posted the accident pilot reports and pictures on my old FLSC XC web site at
http://www.pas.rochester.edu/~cline/FLSC/
Look at the In-flight safety link under the Safety link.
(This old website includes a Spring 2010 draft of a proposed FLSC website that I created for Doug to use in creating his last1 version of the FLSC website.)
