Good enough Jim, I don't need any fancy meteorological data. How high people got, if they went anywhere...tells me a lot. Mark's flight did that...so the day was about as the models suggested. Too bad more of us don't venture out.
And not BTW: re your kudos list and "who did I forget anyway": obviously crass to mention yourself, but: if it hadn't been for you working your cojones off for nearly a week straight organizing, instructing, DPEing, etc. etc. the whole thing would never have happened. So thanks!

: But Sunday was otherwise a little
: disappointing, and Monday was slow in
: getting started. Good news for the Winch,
: though. Lots of fun. Sorry I dont have
: more metoeorlogical data.
:
: Valley Soaring packed up about 1 PM and as
: they were leaving Chuck Waldo called up to
: say good bye, and I said he should unpack
: and come up because the conditions had
: improved, but he said if they did the sky
: would cycle again just for spite. Many said
: they would like to come next year, so maybe
: we can make this a yearly event if the Club
: wants to.
: Mark Wasserbauer got to 5,000' on
: Monday and went to Penn Yann, wandering
: around until he was forced down at Avoca
: Intl late in the day. Dinner at Big Sky
: with Jake and Mark was nice.

: How was Sunday? How was yesterday? Somebody
: out there must have had a rewarding flight
: they would like to share. Come on, don't be
: so shy.

: Sunnier than yesterday, although models do
: forecast some altocumulus and cirrus during
: the afternoon for the southern tier.
: Sounding isn't too bad...should get thermals
: especially off the ridge by 1 or 2, and the
: ridge itself should start working. Should
: definitely be better than yesterday. Typical
: summertime temperatures....another picnic to
: end the weekend?
:
: And Thank You to those who have served.

: First, yesterday. The good news is that all
: had a fun day with lots of flights (40)
: followed by a great picnic. Didn't do a head
: count, but = or > # of Valley People as
: FLSC...all pitching in and working hard. The
: bad news is that that new Rapid Refresh
: model (let's call it RRM for now) verified
: amazingly well. Yesterday, it forecast
: Altocumulus crud alternately forming and
: dissipating all day, and it was spot on, as
: opposed to the NAM (North American
: Mesoscale) model, which had clear all day.
: Resulting in stifled thermals...some of the
: best pilots working to get a half hour. But
: if you worked really hard ...well CZ got
: two hours, and could have gotten > 3 if
: he'd launched earlier. I owe him a Coke.
:
: That RRM output was excellent yesterday, and
: I'm going by it today even if it was a
: fluke. Meaning almost no chance of rain or
: electrons. Approaching warm front: energy
: starved. But...like yesterday, mid-level
: crud will dim sun, and result in similar
: soaring conditions. If you want synoptic
: details, NWS Buffalo's morning discussion is
: excellent:
