The energetic folks from Valley Soaring Club arrived after their 4 hr drive, assembled 1-34's and their ASK-21. Bradley and Rizzo got the Winch working, the drag chute arrangement had been modified and is correct now, and after 5 checkout flights, their chief instructor (Bob Ripstein - a former Rochester Soaring Club member in the 70's)was qualified again to instruct their club members. Doug thoroughly briefed them on airfield and winch ops. Coburn and Ruskauff assisted with Ops and retrieves all day. Late in the day those who had assembled received aerotows, with several good flights in the local area.
Lafford towed Chuck Z midday. Right now grass is very high in the Rwy 32 takeoff area. What lift we found was very broken up by the strong Southerly winds and no ridge lift off the point. Only one house thermal seemed to be working over the high school. Beautiful day in the mid 80's. Thanks for all your work Doug!
