All indications were that it was going to be a great day per Dr Ray, XC Skies & Blips. It was a good day but not great. A blue day with no Cu. Being a cautious soul, I personally don't like to venture forth until I can get to 5,000 ft. With that in mind, it took me about 2 hours before I could crack 5,000 ft. with most of the time spent at about 4,000 feet. So I just wandered around the area within gliding distance of DSV. Jari ventured sout to Avoca and was rewarded with a climb to 8,000 ft and he proceeded down to Elmira from which he couldn't get away. Jari landed at Elmira and was retrieved via aerotow by Pete Neal. Dr Cline went North and got to 8,000 ft near the Mt. Morris dam. I wandered around the area keeping an eye out and listening to the preparations for a test winch launch at the end of the day by Jim Rizzo Esq. in the glider and Tom Roberts on the winch. Sadly, the winch did not co-operate and needs a carburator repair/rebuild. I did enjoy my non-stress flight of 4.1 hrs ala Dr Bernardis/Ironpants. Hoping to hear how everybody made out today, Sunday. Also found six pack of beer on my car seat on Saturday courtesy of Dr. Ray. Thanks Dr. Ray, but you don't really need to do that anymore. Flying is reward enough.
