Per Jim Martin's comment regarding lack of a radio for the L13AC, I believe there are a couple of hand held radios in the clubhouse that should be put in the L13AC until we get a radio installed. Lets check to make sure they are charged up and working first.
If we can't find the club hand helds, or the batteries are dead, I have a ICOM A22 which I will lend to the L13AC until a radio is installed. I just put fresh batteries in the A22 so it should be working fine.
Announcing the landing pattern at least gets people looking out for other aircraft and makes our DPA (Dansville Pilots Association) kinsman across the field happy too.
But most importantly, scan, scan scan!

: Notes from the 1st round of field checkouts..
: Blanik L13AC spins great with a 205#
: instructor in the rear (Me) and 170# or
: lighter student up front. Very nose low
: attitude, stays into spin until opposite
: rudder or even the slightest reduction in
: aft stick pressure. Stalls at 33-34K. I
: Recommend a pattern entry speed of 50K, then
: add 1/2 wind and any extra for sink.
: Emphasis Items; Tow the aircraft with the
: canopy closed AND Latched to prevent canopy
: hinge damage. Leave the G-meter readings for
: the next person to reset. Try to lands the
: glider in a 2 point attitude with some
: flare, but not so much that it bangs the
: tail first, please. Reminder- it has a
: swivelable tailwheel, so crosswind or
: tailwind takeoffs or landings require your
: attention to prevent ground loops.
:
: We had 4 powered aircraft
: "intrusions" due to operating on
: rwy 32. Wingrunners did good work, and
: everyone needs to stay vigilant. The Blanik
: does not have a radio, yet.
