A seven year old girl in Maine. So much for "Probably not affecting the US coast", heard from numerous sources a week ago today. Ignorance is bliss.
Just to review the weekend quickly: Saturday turned out to be the better day, with some good soaring. I picked Sunday...not as good, but still some true soaring, albeit limited to < one hour flights. So much for having a degree in meteorology. Unless of course you prefer deep convection, have the equipment, rating, clearance, and insanity...Mt.Morris had a "lovely" thunderstorm ~ 2:30, and there were cumulus congesti all about. Diamond altitude, anyone?
Bill's still lingering today, but the rest of the week is going to feature excellent soaring weather. Lucky for us, Bill didn't dump all that much precip. Tuesday to Friday good, possibly Thursday the best pick, if progged cold front timing pans out. Situation probably deteriorating by weekend and into next week.
So why aren't we flying during the week? I think our club is in a bit of a funk. We need to do more flying. LETS GET OUT THERE!
