Sure hope so. Enough of this rain, already. Current models show nothing but improvement as the week progresses. You know the drill, the ground gets drier, the clouds higher, etc. etc. And no stabilizing warm advection aloft. IF you can trust the models. Pushing the GFS 500mb vorticity maps all the way out to 132 hours, one sees initially a zonal (west-to-east) flow across the continent, and mostly in Canada, gradually transiting to a ridge building over us up to and including the weekend. That would be great, although...zonal flows are notorious for buckling in the middle, due to small-scale features in the flow below the resolution of the models, together with imperfect surface data. Doubt that will happen this time, don't ask why.
This progression is somewhat similar to last week's, when things culminated in an excellent day Friday, with 7,000' cloud bases, although the weekend was...well, you know. This weekend should be different, and Region 3 should start out with a bang.... but why wait that long? Surly some of us weekday folks could go for it. We have our tow planes, sailplanes, instructors, and very own brand new DPE (you go, Jim!), so what the hell? Well???
