We all sat there looking at the great looking clouds to the south only joking about towing all the 10 or 15 miles or so to get there.
I am very disappointed in myself for not realizing what was happening early enough to do anything about it. After seeing the visual satellite image late in the day it occurred to me that towing into it, even all the way to Hornell, may have been what was necessary. Apparently there was a stalled front near or over Dansville that extended E-W and stopped the development in a line about 10 to the south. From what I hear, the conditions south of that front were nothing short of fabulous.
I understand a 500+ KM distance/speed record was broken with a flight from Harris Hill Sunday, so all of us who tried on Sunday are quite out of excuses. We failed because we did not continue to try. I intend to make every effort to not let that happen again. I don't really want to admit it, but on Sunday it appeared that we where in the sink hole, we just needed to tow beyond it. I doubt getting home would have been a problem.
