Mark forgot to add that he managed only a meager 170+ mile cross-country flight himself - just a sneaker shy of Gold distance and he made it home.
: A fabulous weekend, with many, many cross
: country miles logged by the members of the
: Club. In the words of our President uttered
: on Sunday, “A pig on a barn door could stay
: up today”. Chuck Z. was airborne for his
: usual 2-3 hours on both days, Jari flew his
: machine both days and easlily made it back
: to the homeport. I got a chance to put some
: miles on the Grob on Saturday, and then a
: few more in the Russia on Sunday. But I
: think the flight I am most please about is
: the one that recovered the Boomerang.
:
: From my information, Doug Bradley was taking
: another shot at Gold distance, made it to
: Cash Creek Pa, and on the return was sunk in
: the Harris Hill Sink Hole. The only planes
: I saw climbing out of there yesterday had
: jet engines. Anyway, Doug was on the ground
: prior to the Harris Hill guys locking up the
: doors for the Watkins Glen TFR thing, and in
: doing so has brought the flame back to the
: Finger Lakes Soaring Club. Great job Doug!
:
: Also ran, and I hear ‘flying Doug’s wing’,
: Jim Rizzo flew a similar plan and also shot
: down in the middle of the sink (and possibly
: jet traffic since Jim landed later).
: Unconfirmed, but Jim may have made his Gold
: distance.
:
: The forecast looks good for Tuesday, and the
: long term is looking like Saturday will be
: the better weekend day.
