The only planes I saw climbing out of there yesterday had jet engines. Anyway, Doug was on the ground prior to the Harris Hill guys locking up the doors for the Watkins Glen TFR thing, and in doing so has brought the flame back to the Finger Lakes Soaring Club. Great job Doug! Also ran, and I hear ‘flying Doug’s wing’, Jim Rizzo flew a similar plan and also shot down in the middle of the sink (and possibly jet traffic since Jim landed later). Unconfirmed, but Jim may have made his Gold distance. The forecast looks good for Tuesday, and the long term is looking like Saturday will be the better weekend day. Mark

A fabulous weekend, with many, many cross country miles logged by the members of the Club. In the words of our President uttered on Sunday, “A pig on a barn door could stay up today”. Chuck Z. was airborne for his usual 2-3 hours on both days, Jari flew his machine both days and easlily made it back to the homeport. I got a chance to put some miles on the Grob on Saturday, and then a few more in the Russia on Sunday. But I think the flight I am most please about is the one that recovered the Boomerang.
