Posted by MWass Anyway, I called Chuck Taft, he said he would be at the field anyway, and then Bob Matthews came over and we had a quorums. Bob took the 21 and I grabbed the Grob and we were headed for the cooler air. I asked Bob if he wanted to launch first, his reply was lets get you going and I will follow. I released in the house thermal at 1500ft and had 4-5 knots to 6000ft. I decided it was time to try the Hornell-Avoca-Dansville task. I was blue through a few miles south of Hornell but managed to loose very little running about 10 above minimum sink. Turned east and things were a bit different, some significant sink, and found myself at about 4000ft just west of Avoca. But, lots of nice looking clouds and lift. Ok, Avoca…. Turn for home, well the path looks very blue, and South looks very good, and I’m not ready to terminate this flight. So…. I guess back to Hornell, then further West to Four Seasons. I am not sure I found it but I think I was there. Found 10+ knots south-east of Four Seasons, average read 6.5 knots for about 2 or 3 turns. Got to 7300ft just below the cloud base. Back to Hornell… Well…now…I guess I should get back since its 4:45pm. My glide takes me all the way to Seven Gullies and back the home field. I added it up…97 miles in just under 3 hours.

I tried to announce my intentions on the weekday fliers reflector, but I got my message returned again. Apparently I am not on the list yet. I will change my messaging procedure.
