Friday nights are set for a major shake up, as four British Hip Hop Heavy Weight DJs join forces and host to a weekly event celebrating Hip Hop Culture. The Getdown will launch on Friday 5th December at Bar Rumba, W1 and has the pleasure of being the official launch party for Missy Elliotts new album This Is Not A Test. Boasting future live PAs from home grown artists like Mystro and DJ Vadim currently making waves in the Hip Hop scene.
The prolific team of turntablists comprises of DJ Pogo (former DMC mixing Champion), DJ Skully (former Battle for Supremacy mixing champion), DJ 279 (former E.M.M.A Award Winner) and extraordinary, young and talented DJ Kayper (this years Vestax Juice DJ champion), otherwise known as The Associates. The Getdown will be the first time the dynamic foursome comes together to perform in a club venue. Combining their mixing and scratching skills with a music policy that encompasses everyone from The Sugar Hill Gang to 50 Cent.
The Getdown is all about keeping it real, bringing the Hip Hop house party to the club. DJs will share the floor with the party people and their talents and expertise will be in full view for on lookers. Both signed and unsigned UK and US acts have been scheduled to appear fortnightly but the DAT and CD back-up tapes have no place here, as all acts will have to perform supported by a DJ cutting up break-beats just like the original pioneers.
The Getdown is destined to become the Friday night Mecca for British Hip Hop fans and a jewel in the crown for Eclectic Breaks infamous Real Hip Hop Events, based on ground breaking celebrations, raising the standard of the entire genre, and creating events of pure enjoyment.
