Jose, accelerating is very important in effective for your exercise regiment. Her`s a couple of questions, do you have a weight problem and how many days are you brisk walking?
If you do not have a weight problem, I would increase my time to 45 minutes(2miles) 5 days a week. After you feel comfortable with this time, I would
walk 50 minutes the same number of days. You really need to start stretching before and after walks to release the lactic acids from the muscles(soreness). The calf, hamstring, quad, lower back, chest and hips need flex. I will sent you some stretches to go on.I would also encourage strenght training especially legs, arms, shoulders, sterum lower back.
All you really want is to tone, not try to lift for pounds.
I will sent you some suggestion for strenght training too.
Good luck and remember be patient and consistant
Harvey
