Dear Lynne,
Sorry to hear about your current situation but congrads on being transplanted 11 years with a new liver! Why was your SSI taken away? Do you work at all Lynne? How is your health?
I would think about calling your state senate or maybe talking to someone in your city hall that deals with disability, etc. Also every hospital and transplant team should have a social worker-she/he should be able to help you-I cannot beleive any center would let you go without lifesaving medicine-remember stress is not good and try to be positive. If worse comes to worse and you get no help from a trasplant social worker once contacted or your contact at city hall then that is wrong and I would suggest going to your local paper to give your story-its unfortunate but sometimes these things/people need to be "brought out" before they take action and you have to do what you have to do in order to get your meds. How about any non-profit organizations for liver tx receipients or just transplant receipients-UNOS or even the NKF(national kidney foundation)-you can find either of these numbers on the web..if you cant find them, let me know and I will get them for you. Please let me know if there is anything I can do and keep me,us updated because we care
good luck and please post an update,
Dottie
