Senator Storm thurmond(SC) was given a bithday party in the Senate yesterday celebrating his 100th birthday, this man has served in Congress since 1954, longer than anyone, been married three times, his first wife died with cancer, but the married Miss South Carolina, divorced, remarried another Miss South Carolina(still married) both half his age
Ask what his secret on living to 100.
"I have exercise for 45 minutes every morning as long as I can remember doing sit-ups, push ups and brisk walking, that has given me a long life and I recommend it to everybody"
I have an aunt 90 years old, who has never been in hospital, very few prescription drugs in her lifetime, never sick such as colds etc.Drives from Atlanta to Florida alone.
What is her secret? She has walked 5 miles 4 times a week for 57 years.Never missed a walk except twice due to a sprain ankle whn a cat run out in front of her and she slipped.
Before my transpant I had logged over 10,000 miles running, never sick like colds, weigh good, felt good, but unfortantuly had a genetic kidney disease ( 7 relatives on my dads side died from kidney failure).
I know that my past running has played a role in my recovery from my kidney transplant, cardiac arrest, kidney cancer and Lymphoma all a feed back from my disease. I feel like a 40 year old, with so much energy, fixing to turn 65 in a couple of weeks and still running. It does not come overnight, but it will be their if you apply the effort and time.
