Alan, running is not always the key to successful physical fitness, eventhough, it is the most productive way to lose weight or keep your weight stable, but more important it does regulate lipids such as cholestrol etc, and makes your risk of heart disease a lower percentage especically the immuosuppressed.
There are other avenues to fitness than running or jogging.I will suggest a few and sent some others to you later.
Park your car at a distances when going to the bank, grocery store, post office etc.You should never have a problem finding a parking place.
Practice deep breathing exercise(exhale and inhale from different postions.
Massage your muscles for a few minutes each day, this gives you better circulation with your blood and tissues.
Stretch you muscles after a walk or a chore you have done that warmed your muscles up.
Have no short cuts in life, do everything full force
Have confidence, pride and eat a heathly diet
Good luck
Harvey
