As I told my surgeon, I didn't have a transplant to stop doing the things that make my life worth living. He walked away shaking his head. The reality is, the sport is pretty darn safe at the level I play. Most of the deaths that have occured in the type of cars I race (sedans, production based cars, with all of the saftey equipment built into the car, plus some extras) were from heart attacks or other medical problems.
