Fishing in Lindsay

In May I am holidaying in Lindsay for a week from the UK with my young son. I would appreciate any information relating to fishing in that area preferably without having to use a boat nor driving to far. Info on any species for me but junior is a Carp fanatic. Also any tips on bait & methods people are willing to share and details of any local tackle suppliers. Thanks for your time
