Had a buddy of mine go through the same thing earlier last week. Sounds like at the same place too. Wish you could have avoided it but glad it all worked out.
The Aspen beach entrance is open and the ice there is in wonderful condition. No melt and easy driving. An even better alternative than Brownlows.
