Where would the end of the spinnaker pole downhaul be?

Having managed to get KC3067 to float again after 15 years, I am dreaming of sailing it under the spinnaker, perhaps next year. (This year I am dreaming of getting it sailing! Upright would be nice, but sailing will count.)
I have a double-ended spinnaker pole, and I assume there must be some way to stop the outer end of the pole from rising straight up into the air when the spinnaker is attached. However, I cannot see any obvious point on either the hull or the mast where one would attack a block to take a spinnaker pole down-haul.
What should I be looking for, and where should I be looking?
(And perhaps I should take a picture or two and post them on a simple web site I have experimented with!)
