I thought initially that you may have been having trouble because you have a wooden mast that was very heavy. From your pictures though looks like you have a typical aluminum mast. You should be able to stand the mast upright by yourself and hold it vertically with two hands while lifting it into place through the mast partners and onto the step. You might want to practice a bit on a calm day but its really not that difficult (unless its blowing the dog off the chain). You certainly shouldn't need two or three people and 2x4 A-frames
: The problem is with me trying to
: control the foot of the mast (I'm
: about 5'6") while my 6'3"
: younger son walks the mast up, hand
: over hand, from behind the boat. The
: trick is trying to get it up without
: losing control of the base and
: having it scratch the forward
: bulk-head.
:
: I wondered if a bipod out of 2x4,
: with a line over the top to a bit
: higher than mid-section of the mast
: would make raising it easier. What
: happens if my son isn't around and
: I'm relying on someone not as tall
: or as strong?
:
: Thanks for any advice.

: . . .there must be
: an easier way to put the mast up.
: Without two strong friends and a
: husky teen-aged son, it's a bit of a
