The problem is with me trying to control the foot of the mast (I'm about 5'6") while my 6'3" younger son walks the mast up, hand over hand, from behind the boat. The trick is trying to get it up without losing control of the base and having it scratch the forward bulk-head. I wondered if a bipod out of 2x4, with a line over the top to a bit higher than mid-section of the mast would make raising it easier. What happens if my son isn't around and I'm relying on someone not as tall or as strong? Thanks for any advice.
