: Thanks Delena for the suggestions, but
: unfortunately my little finch, Dolce,
: died last Thursday. this has upset
: me terribly where i don't think i
: want another finch again...they are
: so fragile and they don't live very
: long. i had a lady gould that lived 6
: years and after that it's been only 3
: years tops..this is it for me.
: thanks though.

: My Cordon has been ill, i think?
: he's
: been sitting at the bottom of his
: cage, when on his perch he sits
: backwards, his chirp is very faint.
: Just the other day he was making a
: motion like he was trying to chirp or
: gasp for air, and he got really
: puffy. i sat and watched him for
: while cuz i thought he was dying.
: then he ate and drank water then
: seemed fine...unsure of what to do..i
: have had him for 3 years, next Feb.
: will be 4, is he just getting old?
: please advise.
: : it is a possibility he is getting
: old,could have a cold,might need
: better diet,could need warmer
: area.try to add vitamnes to his
: diet, try to place a heat light at one
: side of his cage, offer mealworms that
: have been placed in handfeeding
: formula for 3-4 days.good luck and
: happy thanksgiving.

hazel,
don't give up...the cordon blue might have been imported and there for you have no clue how old it is when you get them.try one's that are captive breed.
they are a delight and if you enjo and love the birds that much then you shoud have a bird.the bird will ejoy having someone love it and you will enjoy being able to love it.it is a win-win situation.also finches do better with another finch friend.they get lonely for the compationship and aren't generaly tame enough to accept humans that well.
i hope you will tr again and i am sorry for your loss.
happy thanksgiving to you also.
