broken foot/toe?

My male zebra finch seems to have a broken foot. I am guessing it is because of the latest 2 offspring being big enough to fly in cage, causing less room for their active lives. Anyway his middle 'toe' is black and he can't grip a perch with it. He is active as normal, still cuddles with his kids, eats and drinks. His mate hasn't been laying any eggs since it happened though. Anyway, anyone know if there is anything to do about this or will it just cause him more stress to have to be caught and then traveling to the vet.
