Here's the lingo at our house:
Off: off the couch, off me, off the bed, etc.
Down: Lay down
Wait:Sorta like stay, only not as exact. I use it for things like when I want to get something out of the back seat, and the dog is there. Wait means I am opening the door, but don't you get out. Or the crate, when I want to put a leash on, but don't quite have it ready.
Here is the biggy: Leave It!! Our puppies know that one when they leave here. Means don't chew on that, don't eat the cat, don't bite the guy walking by, anything to do with the mouth. A lot of people use OUT for that, but out means outside here, so short of retraining everybody, I had to come up with something else. Walk On is like heel, but not as exact. Outta Here . . . out of the kitchen, out of my way, out of the bathroom, or just generally "give me some space!!" Lots more, but that is kinda what gets us through the day here with 5 filas.
