now this makes sense. you've put a lot of time into your dogs and i didn't quite understand what you were saying. i can also have my dogs on lead and when presented with a situation they will calm down once i say enough is enough. of course that does not apply if someone were to come toward me in a threatening manner. they just wouldn't leave it go. now to stand there and talk with someone yes they will calm down as long as the person stays calm and acts like a normal human being. if they were to start getting loud, waving their arms around etc. they would let them know they needed to step back. i could calm them down once again but they would not be happy about it. doc was just out and updated everyone with rabies ( thank goodness for 3 year rabies shots ) and everyone flipped out. they know why he was there but they figured what the heck let's play on it. as soon as we walked out of the building and headed to the house they were fine. was i going to stand there and tell each one of them thats enough ... naw it was easier to just get it done and shake your head. i have a couple dogs that were under a year who got the 1 year rabies but i'll be licensed to give them myself when they are ready for the 3 year rabies. i sure wish i would have known that earlier. anyways most people are not able to do the type of training that you have done and will never be able to off their fila in a threatening situation. i know i couldn't. if one of my dogs felt something was a threat i would have to wrestle them to the ground to off them. there would be no word or any amount of screaming that would change that. what we all need to realize is that most people couldn't handle a situation like that and it's best to just leave it at filas do not like strangers therefore they should not be around them.
