i just read through them post...Man I am sorry but he is an idiot..i have always read that a fila is not suposed to be lunging maniacs but faithfull guardians....My dogs will not let a stranger in my home at all..No that dont try and bite them if all they are doing is standing at the door but they will look at them and give a low growl to let them know that they are not welcome here...If the dogs are in the back and someone is in their yard, biy do they let them know heay I am over here and i dont want you to try and come here...When i walk the dogs they walk with confidence and dont show any fear what so every of their surrounding, but when a stranger is walking by they will not let them come near me..No they dont bark like crazed killers but they will lower thir head and give of a low growl...
Know with people who do come in my home is people who has been their with them from the day i got them..They look at them as extended familly, but if one of them hasnt been around then they are weirry of them...Just like my sisters boyfrien..Dakota knows him but he hant seen him in a while..well the other day he came over and dakota let him in with them watchfull eyes but when he went to leave dakota pinned him in a corner..didnt bit him but held him till I said it is okay he is just leaving...my kids have even learned that their friends are not aloud in unless they have been here since day one and the kids agree with that...
Sociallizing these dogs dont make them cuddlie teddy bears just aware of their surrounding and know that not everything is not a threat...
I think this guy needs 101 training in the fila world...even if the filas here in the states have been watered down in temp does not mean that one day or another that that dog is gonna realize, Hay I am A Fila maybe I should Start Acting Like One...
Cheyenne was just like that when I got her..She was 3 months old and didnt act nothing like a fila till she was 2 yrs old..Only a few times did I ever see her be protective and that was because someone was teasing her and she didnt quite like that...I never once ignored the fact that she was a fila.I have beware of dog signs and no treaspassing signs all over...When she hit 2 yrs old the fila in the costume came out of the closet..My neighbors kid came in and reguadless of what i said he wouldnt listen to me..Well needless to say he came through my door and sat on my couch and out of no where Cheyenne grabed his pant leg and pulled him off the couch and held him on the floor..Noo didnt bit him but held him down..I never left his side and when i said Cheyenne llet hi go she looked at me and did so, he left the house and I treated her with a treat because she finally came out and did what she was suposed to do..from that day on she will not let no one in my home unless she allready knows them...so even if it is a watered down fila there is no guarentee on when or where the true Fila will show...and from my exsperience it will show up one day or another...Some Filas just take longer then others....That guy really needs to grow up and think about what he preaches to people..
