I had a mutt who had Demodectic Mange. It sucks, once you think you have it under control and haven't seen it in a long time, it pops back up. I had to be careful of the diet and frequently use Ivermectin and anti-biotics to keep it under control.
When the dog hit's maturity it is a little better but it is a life long battle with the skin problem. It itches and quite often festers with infection in hot spots. The infection spreads rapidly and you usually don't see it till the dog is pussing in places and you can pull their hair right out. I would have to shave my dogs ass and parts of his back to treat infections with ant-biotic creams. And you have to brush them quite often to try and stop scabs from forming which will lead to infection.
It' a b###h and it costs a bunch over time with buying medicine and such. And the dog doesn't care for getting shaved and creamed and dipped, poked, prodded etc constantly. So if you don't mind putting up with this kind of stuff, sure get the dog! Personally I wouldn't want to do it again and the dog I had wasn't near as bad as some I have seen.
