Hill Country Neglected and Abused Dogs
I received 4 pups from Patti Thomas Brown of Hill Country Filas in Dyer, Tennessee. One of those pups appeared to have a broken leg and an infection.
The pups also had coccidiosis and were infested with hook, round and whip worms.
We took the injured pup to the vet the next day and were surprised to find out the leg wasn't broke it had been bitten and the nerve damage was so bad it couldn't be saved. We were also told that there was no human interaction involved in the healing of this wound. Pretty much the pup was left there bleeding in straw in a cold and wet barn.
Because of the belly full of worms, coccidiosis and infection from the bite doc felt it was in the pups best interest to be put down. Below is a picture of the pup and links to videos of him. As soon as we were told there wasn't much hope for the pup with the bite injury we informed Patti and she gave her word that she would take care of this and all of the vet bills. She even went as far as telling my husband that she put a check in the mail on wednesday but of course nothing ever showed up. This is a picture of the pup the other person that contacted me was supposed to get before all of this happened. As you can see this puppy who is kept in a barn is wet and cold looking. This picture was taken on a 30 degree day.

As most of you know I was one of the other people who had put a deposit on one of the pups from the same litter that Robin got her pups from. After going back and forth with Patti several times trying to be fair and patient and giving her a chance I finally decided not to get the pup. Patti has not conducted herself by any means in a business like manner and lacks SERIOUS communication with prospective buyers.
Note that I have several emails exchanged between me and Patti and not one did she state she was sorry for the bad business. The only thing she did say she was sorry for was getting a bit pissy at me after I posted on another website she is fairly active on.
Anyone looking to purchase a Fila needs to stay away from Hill Country. You will not get what you are looking for and you will CERTAINLY NOT get a REFUND!!!
Below is the final email exchange between me and Patti and to date I still have not heard from her neither have I received my refund. Highly doubt I will either.

Hey Patti,
I'm just writing you to tell you to forget it about the pup. Thanks but it's just not going to work; trying to reach you and waiting from a return response is quite difficult. So when you sell her I would appreciate that you send me the $125 from the $375 total that I paid you which was the overage of the deposit. Thanks for you time and efforts.

First Robin let me say Im sorry for you having to go through such an ordeal with this "women". In June of 06 I sent patti a $200 deposit for a pup out of certain parents because of their temp. Well to keep it short, not only did'nt I get my pup but I have never received my deposit back either. First I was told that the pups were on the ground in july. After not hearing from patti until late August, I was told there was a false pregnancy but she had a pup for me. After asking her how could it have been false whwn you told me they were already born, she replied "I have a pup for u , do you want it? AFTER stating that I did not want this pup and to please return my deposit, It is now more than a year and I've heard nothing from this woman.I consider it a lesson learned. AND by the way. I will be looking for a pup in the near future so you will be hearing from me soon.

Robin, I am writing this for all of us that know you. It is a disgrace what Patti did to those poor dogs and pups and what is even more disgraceful is watching other breeders who own her dogs try to make what she did seem like nothing. To allow those pups to be infested with those worms is very neglectful. If you want to experience what that would have been like for those pups get yourself a ziploc bag and put a couple earthworms in it. Touch it, feel it and try to imagine what it would feel like if it were in your belly for 4 weeks or longer. Then imagine them multiplying and having to compete with the worms for the nutrition that your body needs. Then imagine what the puppy that was bitten went through. He was bitten and left there to die but for some reason he did not. The whole thing is just heartbreaking. You took those pups in and did the right thing. You gave them a new chance in life and for that we all thank you. For all of you out there that think the actions of the breeder who inflicted this pain and suffering on them is ok you seriously need to take a good long hard look at yourself. If you see nothing wrong with this then maybe you shouldn't own an animal either.
